Skanda Shashti is a significant Hindu festival dedicated to Lord Skanda/Subramanya, observed on the Sashti Tithi of Shukla Paksha each month. Born to defeat the demon Tarakasura, Subramanya emerged as the god of war, fulfilling a boon granted by Lord Shiva. Representing six siddhis, Lord Subramanya is revered as their bestower, especially in South India. According to legends, he emerged as one of the prominent deities in the southern direction after he chose to live in South India, leaving his heavenly abode.
From him emerged the six divine syllables - Sa Ra Va Na Ba Va, each representing his powerful six siddhis and his six radiant faces.
