There are many stories related to the worship of Lord Ganapati on Wednesdays. According to one legend, when Maa Parvati created Lord Ganesh, Budh Dev (Lord Mercury) was also present on Mount Kailash. He became so engrossed in the sight of Lord Ganesh that he dedicated his day to him, which is why Lord Ganesh began to be worshipped on Wednesdays. Along with this, there is a beautiful story of Ganesh Chaturthi in the scriptures. Maa Parvati created Lord Ganesh from ubtan (a paste) and appointed him to guard the door. When Lord Shiva wanted to enter, Lord Ganesh stopped him. Angered by this, Lord Shiva severed his head. Later, he was brought back to life by attaching an elephant's head. The gods were filled with joy seeing this, and since then, the grand festival of Ganesh Chaturthi has been celebrated across the country and the world.
