Mohini Ekadashi is observed on the 11th day (Ekadashi) of the Shukla Paksha (bright fortnight) in the month of Vaishakha according to the Hindu calendar. Also known as Vaishakha Shukla Ekadashi, this day commemorates the divine episode when Lord Vishnu assumed the enchanting form of Mohini, a celestial apsara, to retrieve the Amrit Kalash, the nectar of immortality (Amrit) from the Asuras after the Samudra Manthan (churning of the cosmic ocean). Mohini Ekadashi is considered a powerful day for freeing oneself from ancestral curses and resolving family disputes. As per legend, a Gandharva named Lalit was cursed to become a monster, but his wife’s observance of Mohini Ekadashi vrat freed him. Hence, this tithi is believed to clear obstacles, bring peace to departed souls, and pave the way to moksha (liberation).

On the other hand, Gangotri Dham is located on the sacred land of Devbhoomi Uttarakhand.
