According to legend, a devoted woman named Ghushma used to make 101 Parthiv Shivlings daily and immerse them in a nearby pond after worship. One day, driven by jealousy, her sister killed her son. Despite this loss, Ghushma continued her worship with unshaken faith. Pleased with her devotion, Lord Shiva appeared, brought her son back to life, and promised to reside at that very place. Since then, the site has been known as Grishneshwar.
A special Rudrabhishek of Lord Shiva is being organized at Grishneshwar Jyotirlinga on this sacred Monday. The Abhishek will be performed with water, milk, curd, ghee, honey, and sugar, along with the chanting of Rudra Mantras and havan rituals. This puja is especially helpful for those facing mental stress, physical fatigue, or a sense of imbalance in their home environment. When Ghushma learned of her son’s death, she remained absorbed in her worship, placing complete faith in Lord Shiva. Moved by her devotion, Shiva appeared before her, revived her son, and offered her a boon. Ghushma asked Shiva to forgive her sister and reside at that very place. Shiva agreed and declared that he would be known as Ghushmeshwar, residing eternally there.
