Lord Vishnu performed severe penance and being pleased, Goddess Srividya appeared from Haridra Sarovar in the form of Maa Bagalamukhi and protected all living beings. Since then, Maa Bagalamukhi is considered the goddess of troubleshooting and protection. According to belief, Maa Bagalamukhi is the eighth Mahavidya, who has the power to control the mind and intellect of enemies. She is worshipped for destruction of enemies, protection from major calamities and success in judicial matters.
