According to ancient legend, after traversing the three realms, Lord Bholenath (Shiva) comes here at night to rest. It is said that this is the only temple on Earth where Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati play a game of Chaupar (a traditional dice game) every night. After the night Shayan Aarti (bedtime ritual), the Chaupar board is set up in the sanctum, and the doors are closed.
