It is said that the marriage of Shiva and Parvati took place in this massive Havan Kund (sacred fire pit), in which fire was kindled in all four directions. All the gods and saints, including Brahma and Vishnu, participated in this divine marriage ceremony. Even today, devotees take the ash from this Havan Kund home and consider it a blessing for a happy married life. The name Triyuginarayan was given for this reason, as the signs of three ages (Tri-Yugas) are seen here, representing the divine connection of Lord Vishnu, Shiva, and Parvati. Four important Kunds (ponds) are located in this temple complex: Rudrakund, Vishnu Kund, Brahmakund, and Saraswati Kund.
