The importance of this Puja increases in the month of Sawan because Kaal Bhairav is the fierce and protective form of Lord Shiva, who is called āBhairavā i.e. āthe destroyer of fearā. Worshipping him on Amavasya provides relief from fear, dilemma and negativity. Sankat Mochan Hanuman is considered to be an incarnation of Lord Shiva. According to Valmiki Ramayana, when Lakshman fainted in the war, Hanuman ji saved him by bringing Sanjivani booti, and during the same journey he also killed the demon Kalanemi. That is why he is called Sankat Mochan. Worshiping him on this day relieves the troubles of life.
