Kashi – Known as the city of liberation (moksha), it is home to the Pishach Mochan Kund, a very special place for Pitru Shanti. According to the Garuda Purana and Kashi Khanda, performing Pind Daan and Tarpan at this kund fulfills the unfulfilled wishes of ancestors and grants them supreme peace. An ancient legend tells of a Brahmin who was born in a demonic (pishach) form but attained liberation by bathing here and worshipping Lord Shiva. Since then, this kund has been called ‘Pishach Mochan’ and became a major site for liberation from Pitru Dosha.
Gokarna Region – Situated on the coastal shore of Karnataka, this pilgrimage site is considered extremely powerful spiritually. The confluence of Kotitirtha and the Arabian Sea here is especially sacred for ancestor rituals. It is believed that Tripindi Shraddh, Tarpan, and Pind Daan performed here directly reach the ancestors and help their souls progress. Scriptures associate this area with the story of Ravana establishing the Shivling and seeking forgiveness, which further increases its significance.
Rameshwaram Ghat – This place is connected to the sacred Ramayana era. It is believed that after killing Ravana, Lord Rama made a Shivling out of sand here and worshipped it to become free of all doshas (faults). Because of this, Rameshwaram is considered an extremely auspicious site for dosha nivaran, Shraddh, and Pind Daan. Bathing in the holy kunds here and performing rituals with devotion is said to destroy sins and lead departed souls on the path to liberation (moksha).
