🚩 Significance of Bada Mangal
According to the Ramayana, when Lord Rama and Lakshmana were searching for Goddess Sita, Lord Hanuman first met them near Rishyamukha Mountain in the form of a sage. It is believed that this divine meeting took place on a Tuesday in the month of Jyeshtha.
Another story from the Mahabharata states that once Bhima became proud of his strength. During his journey, he encountered an old monkey (who was actually Lord Hanuman) whose tail was lying across the path. When Bhima tried to move it, he failed. Lord Hanuman then revealed his true form and blessed him. This event is also believed to have occurred on a Tuesday in Jyeshtha, increasing the importance of Bada Mangal.
🚩 Why is Lord Hanuman called Sankat Mochan?
According to scriptures, during the war in Lanka, when Lakshmana was rendered unconscious by Meghnad’s Brahmastra, the entire army was in despair. At that time, Lord Hanuman courageously set out to bring the Sanjeevani herb from the Dronagiri Mountain. Even after being deceived by the demon Kalanemi, who disguised himself as a Brahmin, Hanuman overcame every obstacle. Unable to identify the exact herb, he lifted the entire mountain and saved Lakshmana, restoring hope to Lord Rama. Due to this act of immense courage, devotion, and strength, Lord Hanuman is worshipped as Sankat Mochan - the remover of difficulties.
