Gokarna, located on the western coast of Karnataka, holds deep spiritual importance for Pitru rituals. According to ancient texts and legends, Ravana once tried to carry the Atmalinga from Mount Kailash, but it was finally established in Gokarna. Dharmaranya Vedi, Gaya (Bihar):
The city of Gaya, also known as Bodh Gaya, is considered one of the most sacred places for Pind Daan. Performing Pind Daan and Tarpan here is believed to help ancestors attain peace and liberation, which is why Gaya is also called the Land of Moksha. Scriptures say that Lord Brahma, Vishnu, and Mahesh along with many deities reside here. It is believed that Lord Rama performed Shraadh and Pind Daan for King Dasharatha on the banks of the Phalgu River. Gaya is described in texts such as the
Vayu Purana, Garuda Purana, and Vishnu Purana.
Pishach Mochan Kund, Kashi:
Pishach Mochan Kund in Kashi is especially known for Pitru Dosh Shanti. The Garuda Purana and Kashi Khand mention that performing Pind Daan, Tarpan, and Pitru Dosh Nivaran Puja here helps fulfill the unfulfilled desires of ancestors and grants them peace and liberation.This kund is believed to be very ancient, older even than the descent of the Ganga. It is associated with the story of a Brahmin who became a pishach (spirit) due to his deeds. Guided by Sage Valmiki, he worshipped Lord Kapardeshwar Mahadev and bathed in this kund to attain freedom. Since then, the place has been known as Pishach Mochan.
Assi Ghat, Kashi:
Assi Ghat is one of the most sacred and well-known ghats on the banks of the holy Ganga in Varanasi (Banaras).
