The history of Pisach Mochan Kund is incredibly ancient. It is said that this sacred site existed even before the descent of Maa Ganga to Earth. The kund is associated with the story of a Brahmin who, due to his karma, was reborn in the pisach (spirit) realm. Guided by Sage Valmiki, he attained liberation by worshipping Kapaeshwar Mahadev and bathing in the kund. Since then, the place came to be known as Pisach Mochan (liberator from the spirit realm). Near the kund stands an ancient Peepal tree, which is believed to be inhabited by restless souls who await shradh and tarpan offerings from their descendants. Performing rituals here is said to repay ancestral debts (Pitru Rin), allowing the ancestors to break free from all worldly bonds and move toward liberation (moksha).
