Rahu Paithani Temple: Along with Lord Shiva, Rahu is also worshipped in this Rahu temple located in Uttarakhand. According to legends, Rahu and Ketu used to be a demon named Swarbhanu. During the Samudra Manthan, when Swarbhanu deceitfully sat among the gods and drank the Amrit. To prevent him from becoming immortal, Vishnu severed his head from his body with his Sudarshan Chakra. However, because Swarbhanu had already tasted the Amrit, he became immortal. The lower part of Swarbhanu became Ketu, and the part above the head, above the torso, was called Rahu. This head part, after being cut off from Sudarshan, fell at Pauri, which came to be known as the Rahu temple. It is believed that people go to this temple of Rahu to remove various Doshas caused by Rahu.
