In Vedic astrology, Kaal Sarp Dosh occurs when all seven grahas (planets) are hemmed between the lunar nodes, Rahu and Ketu, forming a karmic trap that restricts growth across lifetimes. This Dosh is said to trigger delays and hurdles in marriage, pregnancy, and career growth, unexplainable financial losses, and family conflicts, recurring snake dreams or visions of the dead, mental instability, indecision, addictions, and chronic fears.
According to scriptures, Rahu rules the Swati Nakshatra. So it is an extremely auspicious time to pacify Rahu’s negative effects with the blessings of Lord Shiva. 🕉️ Why is Rahu Paithani Temple important for relief from Kaal Sarp Dosha?
The Rahu Paithani Temple in Uttarakhand is one of the few temples in India where Rahu is worshipped directly along with Lord Shiva. According to the scriptures, Rahu and Ketu are parts of the body of the demon Svarbhanu. During Samudra Manthan, Svarbhanu secretly sat among the gods and drank the nectar meant only for them.
To stop him, Lord Vishnu used his Sudarshan Chakra to cut off Svarbhanu’s head so that he could not become immortal. But since Svarbhanu had already tasted the nectar, he became immortal. The top part of his body (the head) became Rahu, and the lower part became Ketu. It is believed that the head, after being cut off, fell in the Pauri district, where this temple is located. That is why this place became known as the Rahu Temple. People believe that worshipping at this temple helps them get relief from the problems caused by Rahu.
