Hanuman replied, my life, my breath, and my soul are already surrendered at the feet of Rama. I have no other self left to give. To test his devotion, the Goddess sent her army of Dakinis, Yoginis, and spirits. Hanuman sat in a meditative posture and began chanting Ram, Ram, Ram. As the divine army rushed toward him, they found an invisible shield of spiritual energy. Every weapon turned into a flower, and every terrifying roar was drowned out by the peaceful vibration of Hanuman’s chanting. Hanuman did not show a hint of fear or anger. His eyes remained closed, fixed on the image of Lord Rama in his heart. Witnessing this, Goddess Kali, impressed with the devotion of Hanuman, offered him a unique boon. Your name shall henceforth be a terror to all things evil. No Tantric power of the dark arts shall ever be able to use your name or energy for negative purposes. You shall be the Sankat Mochan (reliever of troubles) even in the heart of my tantric kingdom.
