According to Hindu scriptures, Lord Chandra (Moon) favored Rohini, one of his 27 wives, which angered Daksha Prajapati. Due to excessive affection for Rohini, Daksha cursed Chandra with a wasting disease. When Chandra sought refuge with Lord Vishnu, Vishnu advised him to worship Lord Shiva in Prayagraj.
