🪈 The Divine Story of Krishna Janmashtami:
Lord Krishna was born in a prison in Mathura, where His uncle Kansa had imprisoned His parents, Vasudeva and Devaki. Upon learning through prophecy that Devaki’s eighth son would cause his death, Kansa locked them away. When Krishna was born, Vasudeva secretly took Him to Gokul and placed Him under the care of Nanda and Yashoda, where He was raised with love.
As part of this Janmashtami ritual, Abhyanga Snan is performed - a revered practice described in the Puranas. It is believed to purify the body by removing toxins and cleansing the skin. This ritual includes ubtan (herbal paste) and oil massage, symbolizing the tender service a devotee offers the newborn Krishna. The ritual recreates the loving care that Mother Yashoda would offer to baby Krishna. Following the Snan, the Shringar of Shri Krishna will be done - an essential and joyous part of His divine birth celebration.
