Dosha Nivaran Special Anna Lingam Puja and Anna Daan For Liberation from Past Life Karmas and Doshas

In Hinduism, the month of Bhadrapada holds special significance and is the second sacred month of Chaturmas. According to scriptures, it is prescribed to worship Lord Shiva during this month. It is believed that worshipping Lord Shiva in this month relieves devotees of negativity and infuses them with positive energy. Additionally, Lord Shiva is also worshipped to seek liberation from any doshas. Worshipping a Linga made of grains (Anna) is said to bless devotees with happiness and peace at home. Some people perform Daan alongside the worship of Lord Shiva during this month to seek solutions to problems in their life and family. According to Shiva Purana and Linga Purana, performing Daan during this month is considered extremely meritorious. It is believed that performing Anna Daan during this holy month not only liberates one from past life karmas but also leads to the attainment of moksha and provides relief from any Doshas in life.

There are many stories in the Puranas regarding the origin of the Shivlinga and its worship. According to one such story in the Shiva Purana, once a dispute arose between Lord Brahma and Lord Vishnu over who was superior. This led to a fierce battle between the two. Angered by the conflict between Vishnu and Brahma, Lord Shiva appeared as a pillar of infinite light. A voice from the sky then declared that whoever could find the origin or end of this pillar would be considered superior. The pillar was so vast that neither Brahma nor Vishnu could find its origin or end. Discouraged, both returned to where they had started. Upon returning, they heard the sound of 'Om,' and Lord Shiva appeared in the form of the Supreme Being. He revealed the secret of the pillar of fire, and Brahma and Vishnu worshipped it. Upon their prayer, the fire pillar transformed into a Linga, and from that moment, the worship of the Shivlinga began in the world. Therefore, during the sacred month of Bhadrapada, Anna Lingam Puja and Anna Daan will be organised at the Etteluthuperumal Temple in Tirunelveli. This Shiva Lingam will be made from rice. After the worship of this Anna Lingam is completed, the rice will be distributed as prasad, along with Anna Daan. Participate in this puja through Sri Mandir and receive Lord Shiva’s blessings for liberation from past life karmas and doshas.
