It is said that the marriage of Shiva and Parvati took place in this huge Havan Kund (fire pit). Fire was lit in all four directions in this divine wedding ceremony. All the gods and saints, including Brahma and Vishnu, took part. Even today, devotees take the ashes of this Havan Kund to their homes. They consider it a blessing for the happiness of their married life. The name Triyuginarayan was given because signs of three ages are seen here. These signs show the divine relationships of Lord Vishnu, Shiva, and Parvati. Four important kunds (ponds) are located in this temple complex: Rudrakund, Vishnu Kund, Brahmakund, and Saraswati Kund. The water of these kunds is considered very pure. This is the place where the gods bathed during the marriage of Shiva-Parvati. The water of Saraswati Kund is believed to come from the navel of Vishnu. This further increases its religious importance.
