According to popular legend, when Maa Chamunda killed the demons Chanda and Munda, her wrath was so fierce that the local people were terrified. Lord Shiva then pacified her anger, and the temple was established at this very spot. The nearby Baner River and dense forests enhance the natural beauty of the location.
