🤔 Why is Parama Ekadashi, the final Ekadashi of Purushottam Maas, so rare?
Purushottam Month is the sacred month dedicated to Lord Vishnu and occurs approximately once every three years. Parama Ekadashi is the special Ekadashi that falls only once during this three-year cycle. The word "Parama" means "supreme." According to the Skanda Purana, “One who observes the fast of Parama Ekadashi receives the punya of all pilgrimages and sacrifices. It was through the observance of this very Ekadashi that Kubera attained the position of the Lord of Wealth.”

The name Purushottam Maas (Adhik Maas) was given by Lord Vishnu Himself. When all other deities refused to accept ownership of the extra lunar month, which was then known as "Malamas," Lord Vishnu compassionately accepted it, bestowed upon it His own name "Purushottam," and declared it the closest to His heart.
According to tradition, during the Treta Yuga, a demon named Shardul terrorized the region. Lord Vishnu incarnated as Purushottam and slayed the demon with His Sudarshana Chakra. This temple, dedicated to that divine form of Shri Hari, is the only Purushottam Temple of its kind in India.
