Sage Medhavi was doing strict penance in the forest. An apsara named Manjughosha distracted him, and he lost his focus and discipline. Later, when the sage realized his mistake, he felt deep regret. To remove the sin of this mistake, he & Manjughosha observed the fast of Papmochini Ekadashi. Both of them were freed from their sins. Lord Krishna says that Papmochini Ekadashi has the power to destroy even serious sins and helps a person regain lost spiritual merit and inner purity.
