The Shri Brihaspati Mandir in Kashi has a special status and is known as the city of Mahadev. According to Kashi Khand of Skanda Purana, there is an interesting story between Mangal, Shani and Guru. The sage Rishi Angiras worshipped Lord Shiva here and in return for his devotion Shiva granted him a special place among the Navagrahas calling him Brihaspar Brihaspati or Guru. Since then Lord Shiva resides in this temple in the form of Brihaspati.
Located near Dashashwamedh Ghat on the holy river Ganga, this temple is dedicated to Rudrabhishek and Guru Shanti Yagya to fulfil the wishes of devotees. To counteract the negative influence of the Guru, special pujas are held here every Thursday or during Guru Nakshatra. Those who dedicate themselves to Brihaspati Yagya at this temple gain wealth, respect, fame, wisdom, wisdom, offspring and success in all spheres of life.
