🔱 Significance of the Three Jyotirlingas:
Shri Trimbakeshwar Jyotirlinga (Nashik, Maharashtra): Located near the origin of the Godavari River, this Jyotirlinga is unique because it houses three Lingas representing the holy trinity Brahma, Vishnu, and Shiva. Worship here is believed to wash away karmic debts and help in overcoming past-life burdens, especially related to wealth and family troubles.
Shri Omkareshwar Jyotirlinga (Khandwa, Madhya Pradesh): Situated on the bank of the Narmada River flowing in the shape of ‘Om’, Omkareshwar is a powerful place for grounding and stability. Worshippers come here to seek Shiva’s help in overcoming hurdles, restoring balance in their lives, and removing long-standing obstacles.
Shri Grishneshwar Jyotirlinga (Maharashtra): Known as the last of the twelve Jyotirlingas, Grishneshwar is deeply associated with devotion, family harmony, and personal transformation. Shri Omkareshwar Jyotirlinga – The fourth Jyotirlinga among the 12 Jyotirlingas, this is situated on the sacred island of Mandhata in the Narmada River (Madhya Pradesh). This Jyotirlinga is believed to be self-manifested. It exists in two forms - Omkareshwar and Mamleshwar, both considered one Jyotirlinga. The Narmada River flows in the shape of ‘Om’, the primal sound of creation. Omkar was first pronounced from the mouth of the creator, Brahma. The recitation of the Vedas also does not start without Om. According to the scriptures, it is believed that just seeing Omkareshwar removes all sins, and Skanda Purana, Shiv Purana, and Vayu Purana also mention the glory of the Omkareshwar area.
Shri Ghrishneshwar Jyotirlinga - The twelfth and last Jyotirlinga near Devgiri is Ghrishneshwar Jyotirlinga, which is a symbol of the unwavering devotion of Ghushma, a devoted follower of Lord Shiva. Ghushma was childless, but with deep faith, she worshipped Shiva daily by making 101 clay Shivlingas and immersing them in a nearby lake. Pleased with her devotion, Lord Shiva blessed her with a son. However, out of jealousy, her sister killed the child. Even in her grief, Ghushma did not lose her faith and continued her daily worship. Moved by her unwavering devotion, Lord Shiva appeared before her, brought her son back to life, and chose to reside there as Ghushmeshwar Jyotirlinga. This Dham is also known as Ghrishneshwar, as well as Ghushmeshwar Jyotirlinga. Even today, devotees remember his devotion by doing 101 pradakshinas around the temple.
