The month of Sawan is considered to be the most powerful time to receive the blessings of Lord Shiva. When the Amavasya of this holy month falls in the Punarvasu Nakshatra, a special energetic combination is formed. Punarvasu Nakshatra is believed to be associated with Goddess Aditi, who gives the power to restore "Vasutva" i.e. lost direction, clarity and self-confidence. On this special date, a unique Vedic ritual tradition is associated with Omkareshwar Dham. It is said that once upon a time a Brahmin named Dharamjeet was entangled in mental confusion, constant fear and self-doubt. No sadhana or remedy brought relief. Then a Siddha Tantrik instructed him to perform midnight Abhishek at the Kaal Bhairav temple in Omkareshwar on the night of Sawan Amavasya and perform Rudrabhishek 108 times at the Omkareshwar Jyotirlinga in the morning. After doing this sadhana, his mind became calm, direction became clear and stability returned to life.
