Grishneshwar Jyotirlinga, located near the Devgiri Hills of Maharashtra, is the twelfth and the last Jyotirlinga, which is believed to symbolize the power of true devotion. Its legend is associated with a great Shiva devotee named Ghushma. A Brahmin Sudharma lived in the Devgiri region with his wife Sudaha and younger sister Ghushma. Sudaha got her husband married to Ghushma as they had no children. Ghushma would make 101 earthen Shivlingas every day, immerse them in the pond and worship them with devotion. Pleased with her devotion, Lord Shiva blessed her with a son. But out of jealousy, Sudaha killed the child and threw his body in the pond. When Ghushma came to know about this, even then she did not get angry or grieve, but continued to worship Shiva with a calm mind. Pleased with her devotion, Lord Shiva appeared, gave life to the son and asked her to ask for a boon. Ghushma prayed to forgive her sister and for Shiva to reside in the same place. Lord Shiva said that he would be worshipped here by the name "Ghushmeshwar". Since then, this place is known as Grishneshwar Jyotirlinga, where even today devotees perform 101 parikramas in memory of Ghushma's devotion.
