On this auspicious occasion, the Mahamrityunjay Mantra will be chanted 1008 times. It is believed that this ritual grants devotees the blessing of mental peace, physical health, and long life. Omkareshwar Jyotirlinga is considered a place that specifically grants health and longevity. This holy site, situated on the bank of the Narmada River, is worshipped for its divine and healing energy.
During this ritual, Panchamrit Rudrabhishek of Lord Shiva will also be performed, which will include substances like milk, curd, ghee, honey, and sugar. According to the mythological story, Bholenath (Lord Shiva) comes here to sleep at night after traveling the three worlds. It is said that this is the only temple on Earth where Shiva-Parvati play Chaupar (dice game) daily.
