As per the Bhagavata Purana, Lord Vishnu took the avatar of Narasimha Swamy on Dwadashi thithi. That is why Dwadashi also got its name Narasimha Dwadashi. Since Kartika Masam is very auspicious for worshipping Lord Vishnu, Dwadashi in this Kartika Masam becomes very special to pray to Narasimha Swamy, his powerful avatar. That’s why it is the perfect time to pray for a big change. Like how Narasimha Swamy appeared to save his devotee Prahlada from the impossible troubles caused by the demon Hiranyakashipu, in the same way, he has the power to destroy our deepest problems, especially the "demon" of debt.

The Runa Vimochana Stotram is a special prayer that directly asks Lord Narasimha to "cut" or "free" (Vimochana) us from our debts (Runa).
